Doping Authority Netherlands
Doping Authority Netherlands was established on 1 January 2019. The Anti-Doping Policy Implementation Act (Wet uitvoering antidopingbeleid; Wuab) came into effect on the same day. Doping Authority Netherlands is an independent administrative body and the National Anti-Doping Organisation of the Netherlands. The Wuab provides Doping Authority Netherlands with the legal basis needed to do its work.
Mission
The mission of Doping Authority Netherlands is to create doping-free sports in the Netherlands.
Statutory duties
The statutory duties of Doping Authority Netherlands are:
- Fighting doping in sport.
- Implementing the doping control process:
- Assessing requests for therapeutic use exemptions and granting those exemptions.
- Making decisions about which athletes will be included in the group of elite athletes.
- Selecting and designating the persons from whom bodily samples will be taken.
- Taking, collecting and analysing bodily samples.
- Managing the results of the laboratory research.
- Participating in disciplinary proceedings.
- Collecting and investigating information about possible violations of doping regulations.
- Providing information about doping.
- Other duties assigned by Our Minister relating to the fight against doping in sport.
The duties are performed in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code. To fulfil its duties, the Doping Authority cooperates with many national and international organisations.
History
The predecessor of Doping Authority Netherlands was the Anti-Doping Authority of the Netherlands, a foundation established on 22 June 2006 by the merger of the Netherlands Centre for Doping Issues (NeCeDo) and Doping Control Netherlands (DoCoNed).
